New Handset delivers GPS navigation, PDA functionality, and multimedia options in one, powerful Linux-based package

BASINGSTOKE, UK � 22 August 2005 ? Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced the A780 for Europe, its first mobile phone with built-in satellite navigation. This enhanced flip phone with integrated GPS receiver and large colour touch screen provides full-featured satellite navigation, guiding you from place to place with detailed colour street maps and voice instructions.

Part of Motorola�s growing line of Linux-based handsets, the A780 comes equipped with CoPilot� Live navigation software from ALK Technologies and quality digital maps from NAVTEQ. The Motorola A780 offers navigational functionality, enabling you to plan trips whether you are in the car or on foot, talking you through turn-by-turn directions and guiding you using 3D maps that utilise the large colour screen. The on-board maps provide street level detail as well as other useful information such as a comprehensive database of house numbers, hotels, airports and tourist attractions.

The Motorola A780 comes ready to use with maps of the UK & Ireland. European travelers can also benefit from maps of Western Europe which are available to purchase, enabling the calculation of borderless routes across Europe. The maps utilise the Motorola A780�s expandable TransFlash� memory which houses a 256MB card.

Built on an open Linux&Java platform, the A780 can also accommodate a vast number of applications and features � from games to productivity tools.

While on the road, the Motorola A780 delivers a seamlessly mobile office experience. Using MOTOSYNC, the A780 securely synchronises over-the-air with a Microsoft Exchange 2003 server to enable you to manage your e-mail, calendar, and contacts and stay connected while out of the office. With Bluetooth�, a mini USB port, and quad-band roaming, the Motorola A780 is designed to connect you whilst on the move.

At play, the Motorola A780 ensures you can capture and share memories created with your friends and family. With a 1.3 megapixel camera, with 8x digital zoom, video capture and playback you need never miss a moment.

The Motorola A780 will be available in selected markets across Europe from Q3 2005.
