Press Release: March 3, 2005FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE T-Mobile launches market-first mobile satellite navigation
London, UK 3rd March, 2005?T-Mobile today announces the launch of CoPilot Live, offered exclusively with T-Mobiles new SDA and MDA Compact. CoPilot adds highly accurate, turn-by-turn satellite navigation and real time location tracking to T-Mobiles range of smart phones and Office in your Pocket mobile devices. Spoken and on-screen instructions guide customers door-to-door across the UK or, as an additional option, Europe, re-directing if turns are missed. With incredibly detailed street maps that contain house numbers, petrol stations, hotels and, places of interest, a T-Mobile MDA or SDA with CoPilot Live provides customers with detailed local knowledge wherever they go. Brian McBride, Managing Director of T-Mobile UK, said: All of us know what a pain it is to get lost, run low on petrol, get into a traffic jam or just plain dont know where we are. The lucky few have been able to enjoy satellite navigation in their cars or boats. Now its coming to your T-Mobile. Its dead simple, dead accurate and dead useful. In a few years, what was the privilege of the few can be taken for granted by all of us. Its another demonstration of the power of mobile as we enter the mobile internet age. The MDA Compact and SDA are the latest additions to T-Mobiles Office In Your Pocket? suite of devices, providing customers with their office when theyre out of their office through fast internet and access to data and their office systems. They provide Microsoft Pocket PC, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, Instant Messenger, Internet Explorer and Media Player---and now GPS navigation. CoPilot Live takes full advantage of the T-Mobile MDA Compact and SDAs colour screens, powerful processors, loudspeakers and Bluetooth connectivity to provide drivers with accurate, dependable door-to-door guidance. Simon Ainslie, T-Mobile UKs Director of Sales, said: We are always seeking ways to enable customers to do business where, when and how they want to and to make life simpler. Getting to the place you want to go to---and arriving on time---are pretty useful additions to the services we offer. Staying connected while on the road is not a bad idea either. T-Mobile customers can choose to buy the devices as stand-alone, or in a package that includes CoPilot Live. MDA Compact and SDA Both devices include standard mobile services, including voice calling and SMS. Both incorporate cameras and make it easy for customers to send and receive emails, access the internet or watch their favourite film clip or listen to their favourite music.
